about

Created in 2010
reMixed by Eric La Casa (2020)
Each room in the Musée Zadkine is surrounded by the garden, a quiet and uncluttered space in the midst of buildings that seems little more than a pleasant area the visitor passes through on the way to the workshop.
The aesthetic issue is to change the perception of this place, by insisting on the centrality of the garden. Our project is to produce a double of the museum, outside: the interior acoustic realities of each room are summoned forth and measured by our instruments – a gesture, a note, and an improvisation by Seijiro are repeated in each room – then broadcast as a multi-track composition into the garden to play upon its resonances. At the same time, all the residents of the museum are interviewed, each in their favourite room, about the garden they observe daily, and about a work of their choice. During one night, the garden is filled with the sound / rumour of these voices, and sounds from within. For a few hours, the indefinable sounds of the studio and the inaudible voices of its residents amplify / fill the large courtyard and blend in with the surrounding sounds of the city.
